2016 Olympic Election

  I don’t think that President Obama should have gone to Copenhagen.  I think that he has many other more important things to be doing than to try to promote Chicago.  I realize that having the Olympics in the United States would boost our economy, and that if Obama had not gone, than people might blame the President for the loss.  However, never before has a president gone to the election of the Host City for the Olympic Games, so I don’t think it would have made much of a difference if he had not gone.

  I like International Olympic Committee’s decision to have Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, be the Host City.  I admire the IOC president for supporting South American countries being the Host City.  A South American country has never hosted the Olympic Games, and I believe that having more countries in the southern hemisphere host the Olympics would make the Olympics more of a “global” event.
