The problem with research for my novel for National Novel Writing Month is that my novel takes place in the stone age. We have a very limited amount of information about the stone age, so it is difficult to find out what life was like back then. Most of the books and articles about this time period are academic and written by scientists who use long latin words that I don't completely understand.
One day, I had this idea to search "neolithic" (the specific cultural time period in which my novel takes place) on youtube.com. What I got was amazing results. Sure, most of the videos that came up were useless, but some were very helpful. I was thoroughly impressed by the results I got and learned more about the time period from three videos than I did from twenty scholarly articles.
