Raethean Chickens

I don't know if this scene will get into the finished product, but I

thought it was pretty funny. Brittany (an earthing who got to the

fantasy world of Raeth by accident) and the gang (all raetheans) are eating breakfast and she notices that the eggs are bigger than the

ones she's used to.

***

“What kind of eggs are these?” she asked, after finding they tasted just like the chicken eggs she was used too.

“Umm...” Ridginon started, “do you mean what do we call them or do you want to know what animal they come from?”

“What animal do they come from?”

“Chickens, of course! Where else would they come from?”

“I don’t know. These eggs are a lot bigger than the chicken eggs I’m used too. I thought maybe they came from something different.”

“Maybe our chickens are different from yours. Our chickens look kind of like small antelope with feathers. What about yours?”

“Antelope? Aren’t antelopes... not birds? How can a chicken look like an antelope?”

“Well their feathers are colored like an antelope’s fur, and their legs are skinny and lightly feathered, so if you don’t see their talons, you think it’s antelope legs.”

“But don’t antelopes have four legs and chickens have two?”

“What? No, chickens have four legs. Now, if you see a chicken with it’s wings spread out, you can tell it’s a chicken, but from a distance, and if the chicken is just grazing, then it looks like an antelope.”

Brittany tried to imagine what a chicken with four legs and antelope colored fur would look like. “Do your chickens also have antelope horns?”

“Of course! What, your don’t?”

“No.”

“Then what the heck does a chicken look like in reality?”

“Like a bird. With two, scaly legs and a big, fat body covered with what is obviously feathers. You can’t mistake a chicken for anything other than a chicken at any distance.”

“Really?” Ridginon thought for a moment. “That’s really weird.”

She couldn’t help thinking that she thought the same thing about their chickens.
